Tee Time Bookings
Fundamental to why you join a private club is your ability to get a tee time. The pro shop is constantly reviewing our tee time procedures to ensure they are maximizing each member’s enjoyment of the game. Please note the following information about 2008 tee time bookings:
-
Players may not book a tee time individually. Two or more players are required to secure an open tee time. Singles will be paired at the closest available time.
-
Players who book a tee time and fail to show with the number booked may be billed a cart fee (and/or guest fee) for the time not used. It is imperative each member only book times that you know will be used; otherwise, you are doing a disservice to the rest of the membership by monopolizing the tee sheet. Please call all cancellations into the pro shop as soon as possible.
-
Tee times will only be booked by speaking directly to a pro shop staff member. Times left on voicemail or on paper are not valid and will not be accepted.
-
Please familiarize yourself with all play restrictions based on your membership category. Should a pro shop staff member unknowingly book you a time that circumvents a restriction, such play can/will be refused and/or billed at a higher rate.
Tournament No-Show/Cancellation Policy
The golf committee policy as it relates to tournaments is that any player who is signed up for any member event and either fails to show up or fails to cancel within 24 hours will be billed for the tournament fee and the cart fee. The tournament fee will be put back into the tournament for prizes. Few, if any, exceptions will be made. In previous years, people who didn’t show up for tournaments dramatically altered the balance of the tournament pairings. Please communicate with the pro shop and let us know if you can’t make an event after you signup for it – it will make our job easier and your fellow members happier!
Event Signups
All signups for events must be done in one of three ways:
The pro shop staff cannot accept signups by phone. This policy ensures that only those persons who absolutely want to play are signed up.
Junior Programs
Talamore is firmly established as a haven for excellent junior players, and as a place where our attitude and support of juniors creates a welcoming environment in which the kids can truly thrive. Many of our junior golfers partake in events outside of Talamore, be it the Philly Junior PGA Tour; AJGA or IJGT events; or Invitationals at a variety of clubs.
Golf Instruction
This year we are excited to welcome Lou Guzzi Talamore’s Dean of Instruction in our new State of the Art teaching facility located on the right side of the Driving range. Lou was named teacher of the Year in 2003 for the Phildelphia section and is featured on Golf Talk Live every Saturday with Tony Leodora at 7AM on News Talk 990 AM WNPT
Assisting Lou with Lessons will be John Diamond and Jason Krier. All lessons can be booked online at www.louguzzi.com.
Special Junior and Women’s Only Clinics and Instruction
Under the direction of Lou Guzzi, our Junior and women’s only golf instruction for 2008 has been completely revamped. For more information, please go to: www.louguzzi.com
Golf Committee & Advisory Board
Golf Committee
The Golf Committe meets on the second Tuesday of every month. Members are invited to attend any/all meetings they wish. The Golf Committee is committed to enhancing the golf experience and tournaments for all golfing members. Annual elections for the Committee are held in the late fall.
Advisory Board
The Club has formed a diverse group of residents and non residents to serve in an Advisory capacity for short and long term planning along with ongoing reviews of club policies and procedures.
Handicap Lists and Handicap Committee
Handicap lists will be posted in the men’s and women’s locker rooms and in the pro shop beginning on April 1st and will be updated on a bi-weekly basis. All GHIN handicaps and stickers will be kept in the pro shop. Should you need an updated GHIN sticker, please go to the pro shop and a staff member will be happy to get it for you. If you need a GHIN handicap, you must contact Tom in the golf shop as soon as possible to ensure you are on the list in 2008!

Cart Policy 2008
In 2008 we’ll continue our expansion of the carts-off-paths policy we started in 2004. Weather permitting, carts will be allowed to scatter more often in 2008, with a couple of exceptions:
-
On all par 3’s, as well as holes #2 & #17, carts will be restricted to paths at all times. These holes will be roped off and ALL cart traffic will be required to stay on the paths.
-
On holes where carts are restricted to paths, signs indicating that will be clearly visible. Three/four such signs will be positioned every 15-25 yards along the cart path as you leave the teeing area. On holes where these signs are present, carts MUST stay on the path at all times (unless a handicap flag is present). Persons found off of the paths on these noted holes will be required to maintain a ‘path-only’ policy for the remainder of the year.
-
On holes where carts may scatter, NO signage will be present. On these holes players are expected to keep their carts IN THE FAIRWAYS ONLY except when entering or exiting the cart paths. We can maintain the fairways much easier than the roughs and the fairways can handle the cart traffic much better as a result.
-
On holes where carts may scatter players are expected to return to the paths short of two orange-tipped poles that will be located on opposite sides of the fairway. These poles can and will be moved to change exit traffic flows to keep wear to a minimum. Players found driving beyond these poles will have their ‘scatter’ privileges revoked.
The club has improved our cart-scatter policy in response to demand from the membership to do so. We are implementing strict rules and consequences for those who choose not to follow the policy so that offenders are dealt with individually, rather than penalizing everyone for the transgressions of a few. We are committed to balancing course conditions with cart convenience, and we hope the cooperation the members afforded the club in 2007 (you did a GREAT job!) will continue in 2008!
Cart/Walk Pass
Any player that purchases a cart pass has the additional option of being able to walk at any time.
Ball Retrievers
Please remember that ball retrievers are not allowed at Talamore. Just as ball retrievers are prohibited, so is “ball-hawking”. Remember that time spent looking for balls can affect more than you and your group – an entire golf course can get backed up very quickly.
Etiquette
As always, please be aware of proper etiquette at all times on the course. So many problems that golfers experience can be avoided if we are all a bit more aware of how our actions affect other people! Please do the little things such as filling divots; raking traps; fixing ball marks; observing all posted rules; operating carts safely and carefully; using proper restroom facilities; maintaining proper pace of play; and much more. Golf is about etiquette and sportsmanship – imagine how much better Talamore would be if we all made a conscious effort to improve in those areas!
Reciprocation
The pro shop staff has made arrangements with several area clubs to handle play by our members should our golf course be closed for certain reasons. In general, most area clubs will charge our members a green fee of approximately $25 + cart/caddie fee should our course be closed for an outing or club event. If Talamore is closed for a GAP, USGA, or PGA event, the reciprocating club will typically only charge a cart fee. Should you need to arrange to play another course, please contact a pro shop staff member who will be happy to try to make a tee time for you! Please note that reciprocation is not available on Mondays or on weekends and is not guaranteed.
NOTE: If you need to charge something at another club, please make sure your name is legible on the chit. Once I receive the bill, your credit card will be charged for the amount plus a 10% service/administration fee. If you have any questions, please contact me at your discretion.
Every year the club experiences situations where members request a reciprocal time, then decide they don’t want to use it because they don’t like the course that play was arranged on. Reciprocation is a privilege, not a right of membership. Members who don’t use times that the shop arranges make it more difficult for the club to make arrangements with that club in the future. If the club makes arrangements for you and you don’t use the time, the club will not be able to arrange for reciprocal play for you in the future. Also, please note that when arranging reciprocal play, the pro shop cannot honor individual requests. We are very fortunate to have excellent relations with the majority of clubs in our area and would like to keep it that way by following proper protocol at all times.
GPS System for Carts
Beginning in 2008 (early May) the Club will be offering GPS distance tracking services on all its golf carts. The service provides ongoing distance tracking to key points on the golf hole and to the middle of the green. Talamore is the first private club in the area to have GPS!!
In addition to distance measurement tools, each cart will now be tracked by the Pro Shop to monitor pace of play and proper use of the carts. The Pro Shop will also be able to send messages to each cart –either individually or the whole fleet . In order to be effective with this aspect of the system we will be assigning cart numbers to tee times this year.
The combination of these benefits – distance measuring, pace of play monitoring and cart traffic control will enhance the golf experience for all members.
Demo Days
In conjunction with Golfdom, we will be offering a more regular diet of Demo Days featuring all the best that the top club company’s have to offer. Look for separate demo day information postings at the pro Shop and through our weekly golf update!
Advertising
There are outstanding advertising opportunities available to promote your business to your fellow members via the internet and our website. Please contact Jimmy Carnahan at 215-641-1300 x117 for more information.
Nametags
We HIGHLY recommend the purchase of nametags for your clubs. For a $10 investment you will give yourself a MUCH greater chance of seeing a lost club returned if your name is on it. Please see a pro shop staff member for more information.
Flag Donation Program
As most of you know, we started a new tradition on the Oak Terrace in 2005 - golf flags with the logos of various special courses our members play are hung from the awnings! If you could, we would greatly appreciate your securing and delivering a flag from any golf course/club that holds a special place in your memory, with your signature on it, to the pro shop. You can do this at any time during the year. We’ll hang it from the awning on the Oak Terrace in honor of you!

Outside Events
Each week in season a golf department update will be sent out which will cover the following 2 weeks of golf events at the Club. The 2 week calendar is also posted immediately outside of the pro shop door.
As always any comments or suggestions for how we can improve your golf and membership experience are welcome!
